The light is falling in dark places, Greyfriars Municipal Gallery, Waterford 2009

The title of this show is taken from the title of a drawing by Patrick Hall. It describes a quote by a blind woman. At the heart of this collection of work is a curious relationship between the physical, celestial  and social landscapes of our being. The work speaks about the fleeting and empheral nature of life, birth and pending , things that are commonly shadowed or invisible to the human eye. Throughout the show there lies an elusive narrative. Images of trees, mountains, stars, lottery numbers are as important as the carefully chosen surfaces and in some cases tools used, some left to chance, a possible future mapped, considered together become a kind of cryptic alphabet narrating an intimate quest.
