The Democratic Trolley
During the time of the residency in Studio 2 at Uillinn West Cork Arts Centre I explored the various processes of creating artworks using found objects and how potentially others can respond to that, creating a deeper collaborative dialogue.
This project took place during and as part of Skibbereen Arts Festival. I provided participants with a shopping bag, inside of which was stitched a small and random amount of spending money that they were invited to spend freely in any of the charity shops in the town ( a map and list of the various shops was provided in the bag) Participants were invited to then bring their objects/ purchases back to the studio along with their own personal encounters, fictions, sentiments or references to further work with them in a manner of suggested ways, autonomous and self directed. The aim, to open a dialogue with the objects and participants as they investigate the number of processes that i work with within my own practice.
